Text: The HTML Grinder is a utility for authors of the World Wide Web. This help text covers basic setup for the Grinder.┬┬Balloon help is supported throughout the HTML Grinder: the menus, buttons, fields, etc. Most plug-in tools do not include their own instructions, and you must use Balloon help to learn how to use them.┬┬IMPORTANT WARNING┬The Grinder can make extensive, irreversible modifications to your HTML documents. It is strongly recommended that you always maintain a recent backup of the documents you intend to grind.┬┬REQUIREMENTS┬The HTML Grinder requires an SE/30 or faster, System 7.0 or later, and at least a 1500K memory partition. The more the merrier.┬┬GENERAL STRUCTURE OF THE HTML GRINDER┬There are two main components to the HTML Grinder:┬ Ñ HTML Grinder. The actual application, whose icon looks like a food grinder. By itself, the Grinder does nothing; the Grinder does its work by accessing the Plug-In Wheels.┬ Ñ Plug-In Wheels. Mini-programs accessed by the Grinder. Their icons look like the grinding wheels you insert into food grinders. Each Wheel performs a unique task.┬ NOTE: Version 2.0 of the Grinder no longer requires the File Grabber droplet or AppleScript. If you are upgrading from an earlier version of the Grinder, you can now drag your HTML documents directly onto the HTML Grinder icon in the Finder.┬┬HOW THE GRINDER WORKS┬Follow these steps to change a group of HTML documents:┬ 1. Select the appropriate HTML documents in the Finder and drag them to the HTML Grinder icon. (You can use the Finder's "Find..." command to select a number of files at once.)┬ 2. The Grinder will open with the Preferences window active. After a moment, the pathnames to all the HTML documents you selected will appear in the pathnames field.┬ 3. Choose a plug-in tool you want to work with from the Tools menu. The plug-in tool opens in a new window.┬ 4. Make the appropriate settings in the plug-in tool window. Then click the action button (the one with the thick black border). The plug-in tool will go through each of the HTML documents on the pathname list and make the appropriate changes.┬┬PLUG-IN WHEELS┬It is vital that the Grinder be able to locate all the plug-in tools. The Grinder ships with a folder called "Grinder Tools" which contains the plug-ins. If you leave this folder in the same folder that contains the Grinder, and do not rename it, the Grinder will always be able to find the plug-in tools.┬ When you get new plug-in tools, be sure to place them in the Grinder Tools folder so the Grinder will be able to find them.┬ If for some reason you must move or rename the Grinder Tools folder, the HTML Grinder will not be able to find the plug-in tools the next time it opens. It will ask you to locate the tools folder. If you locate the proper folder, the Grinder will work properly and remember the folder location for next time.┬┬DEMO MODE AND REGISTRATION┬Many plug-in tools ship in Demo Mode. That means you can try them out with the Grinder for a few weeks. The tool is fully capable, but after a time, the tool will expire.┬ To continue using a tool after it has expired, you must purchase a serial number from Matterform Media. When you enter this serial number the next time you open the plug-in tool, the tool will be registered and you will be able to use it indefinitely. You will not have to enter the serial number more than once, unless you copy the Grinder to another computer.┬ We have kept the price of the serial numbers low to encourage registration.
